Omote

Omote (表) is the first series of kata taught to new students. It represents the foundation for understanding proper distance (Maai), timing, and stick-against-sword techniques.

In some dojos, specific Seitei Jodo forms (e.g., Tsuki Zue, Suigetsu, Shamen) are taught before starting this series to ease the learning curve.
